Tag Learn to Read Volume 1
This Early Reading Book Set helps develop core phonics skills by using simple sentences and sounding out words as needed. The Early Reading Series is part of the Tag Learn to Read System, and is designed to build upon basic reading skills and support children as they proceed at their own pace toward independent reading. (Works with Tag Reading System.)

- Short vowels
- Children learn to read and spell words with regular short vowel patterns (bed) and regular long vowel patterns (bake, meet).
- Phonics skills
- To read independently, children must understand the relationship between the sounds in spoken words and the letters that represent those sounds.
- Sight words
- Sight words are words that cannot be sounded out (the, where, etc.), so they must be learned by sight and memorized.
- Listening and Reading Comprehension
- As children develop comprehension of books read aloud or independently, they explore the uses and functions of written language. They begin to construct meaning, eventually applying critical skills to make inferences and draw conclusions.
