LeapFrog Editorial Review
Kids can be super explorers while learning cool facts about the Earth and its animals when playing Leapster’s learning game based on Disney-Pixar’s Up. Players can soar through adventures with Mr. Fredrickson and Russell by playing three multi-level learning games. While trying to out-maneuver Muntz and his evil dogs, kids can practice their math skills, such as addition, more-than/less-than and sequencing in the “Trip to the Tepui” and “Dog Dodge” games. Kids can also learn lots about animals, reptiles and insects by playing “Big Blimp Escape” where they are asked to listen to clues such as “find an animal with antenae” and then touch corresponding objects. After each game, kids will see how their scores compare to previous rounds to motivate them to keep playing and beat their best score.
Virtual souvenir photos can be earned and collected in a digital adventure book on their Leapster unit. When viewing the souvenir photos, young explorers can hear facts such as “South America covers about 3.5% of the Earth’s surface.” Kids can even make their own adventure book with printable reward pages that parents can access by connecting their child’s Leapster unit to their computer and logging onto LeapFrog Connect.
