LeapFrog Editorial Review

Leapster transports kids to magical worlds where fish can talk and dishes can dance in the Disney Princess “Worlds of Enchantment” learning game. Players can choose to play entertaining multi-level games featuring either Ariel or Belle while they learn basic geometry, math and word skills.

If kids are in the mood for a trip under the sea, they can play “Hermit Crab Shuffle” with Ariel and find the crab with the correct shape or number under its shell. Or, they can take a virtual swim with Flounder in the “Sea Searchin’” game and direct him to correct answers while practicing number skills such as skip counting or counting backwards.

If little learners want to stay on land, they can visit Belle and Chip. Young Chip needs help setting the table in “Dish Dash” and players help him choose plates from the cupboard featuring a correct letter or number. As players advance, they are challenged to complete words and substitute sounds to make new ones. For example, they may be asked to change “cow” to “how.” Kids can continue to sharpen their spelling skills in “Snow Dash” as they help Belle and her horse navigate the snowy woods. Players make the horse jump over logs bearing correct letters and can work up to spelling words.

Parents can keep the royal fun going by connecting their child’s Leapster to a computer and access LeapFrog Connect, where they will find printable rewards their child earns just by playing and learning.
