LeapFrog Editorial Review
Dinosaur fans will take the ultimate prehistoric road trip when playing Leapster’s “Scholastic Digging for Dinosaurs” learning game. Four multi-level games deliver dino-sized fun while teaching kids names and facts about many different types of dinosaurs. For example, kids can learn the difference between an herbivore, carnivore and omnivore by playing the “Feeding Time” game, or use their best detective skills to match up dinosaur parts in “Dinosaur Match.”
By playing the games, aspiring paleontologists earn points and then go onto the “Fossil Finder” activity and dig for dinosaur bones using virtual tools and brushes. Each bone found makes up a complete dinosaur skeleton, such as a velociraptor, that they build to display in the digital “Dinosaur Museum Hall of Fame.” Parents can connect their child’s Leapster handheld to a computer to access rewards and printable pages that reinforce what they’re learning.
With so many cool dino facts and games packed into this game, there’s plenty of room for kids to grow and learn throughout their early elementary school years.
