LeapFrog Editorial Review

Kids can join Pablo, Tasha and the gang on adventures to the desert, beach and “frozen North” by playing Leapster’s “The Backyardigans” learning game. Four games feature two levels that automatically progress as your child learns skills such as letter recognition, counting and sequencing. A popular game may be “X Marks the Spot.” Players choose correct letters or sounds while jumping favorite characters across moving logs over quicksand. Kids will also have fun playing “Cave Party” because they’ll watch and listen to the cavemen’s drumbeats and repeat the patterns. The more they get correct, the longer the sequence becomes!

Two additional games will have players finding hidden objects on the beach or frozen North. And, the “Music Maker” activity lets aspiring songwriters create their own tunes by stringing together different melodies. Kids choose a Backyardigans character and watch him or her get down and boogie to the very song they’ve created! Kids can even go on adventures in their own home with printable “scavenger hunt” sheets that parents can access online as part of the rewards found on LeapFrog Connect.
